Traitor Within

Noun: A misguided aspect of self that repeatedly leads us down self-destructive pathways. The “Traitor” is primarily formed in childhood by factors such as trauma and messaging/modeling that can resurface through either an inner monologue or state of being that presents as dysfunctional, repetitive behavior.

Origin: The concept “Traitor Within”, also the title of Pressler’s upcoming book, was created by Jessica Anne Pressler LCSW, to give people a tangible and workable tool to help identify and overcome their repetitive, self-sabotaging behavior.

Reminder: The purpose of recognizing the “Traitor Within” is to begin the process to self healing and empowerment; it is never a way to excuse the actions of an abuser or narcissist. You are NOT at fault.
